Trailer balls come in different diameters and varying shank
sizes, depending upon their rated capacity. Generally, the larger
the ball diameter and shank size, the higher the capacity. The
most common sizes are 1-7/8 inch and 2 inch. Trailer balls with
1-7/8 inch diameter are rated for Class I towing. Trailer balls
with 2 inch diameter are rated for Class II towing. Class III
trailer balls have either 2 inch or 2-5/6 inch diameters.
If you have a Class I, II, or III hitch, you'll probably use
a 1-7/8 inch or 2 inch trailer ball, depending upon the coupler
into which the ball fits. You must also match the shank size
of the trailer ball to the ball mount. Shank size is either 3/4
inch, 1 inch, or 1-1/4 inch. Choose your trailer ball accordingly. |

attachment points.
Valley offers a versatile ball that saves you time and money
in the long run.
Our newest trailer ball design, called Adapt Hitch Ball is
the most versatile you can own. Imagine changing ball sizes without
removing and torquing down a new ball. That's exactly what our
unique, patented Adapt Hitch Ball does. When you have multiple
trailers and different coupler sizes you can easily change from
a 1-7/8" to a 2" ball by simply releasing a fastener
and using a different-size trailer ball on the same shaft. An
Adapt Hitch Ball allows you to change ball sizes without removing
the shaft, saving time and money. It lets you replace a worn
ball easily and quickly, at much lower cost. It is so easy to
use, you'll never want to remove a trailer ball again. Just easily
remove the Adapt Hitch Ball head and install a different sized
ball in seconds. A simple screwdriver is all you need. |
Ball Mounts

Attachment
and leveling.
All receiver-style trailer hitches require a ball mount to attach
the trailer to the hitch.
Ball mounts insert into the receiver tube of a hitch and provide
a mounting platform for the trailer ball. The shank size of the
trailer ball must match the hole in the ball mount. Ball mounts
come with either 3/4 inch, 1 inch, or 1-1/4 inch diameter holes
depending upon rated capacity.

Valley Ball mounts not only provide an attachment point, they
help level out the trailer. Valley engineers have created a full
line of weight-rated ball mounts with the best compromise of
rise/drop measurements to maximize ground clearance and level
loads. Ball mounts are made to provide either a rise or a drop.
The flat "tongue" area of the ball mount is offset
from the centerline of the receiver tube. If you insert the ball
mount with the tongue down, you get a drop. Inserting it with
the tongue up gives you a rise relative to the centerline of
the receiver tube. You want your trailer to be level with the
car or truck when towing. In fact, we build them all to fit a
combination of trailer and tow vehicle heights. We recommend
you find the actual heights of your existing trailer and tow
vehicle. Most Valley Class III and IV Ball Mounts can be reversed
(put into a receiver, opposite side up) so that the trailer ball
is raised or lowered. |

Couplers
|
One-Handed
Hookups.
Valley quick latching couplers fit 'A' frame as well as straight
tongue trailers.
The extra-large Quick-Lock handle and trigger release gives
quick, easy one-handed hook ups. Our unique ball clamp assembly
can be adjusted without the need for wrenches. The trigger action
release allows fast lock/unlock of ball clamp. Valley couplers
come in a variety of capacities and the two most common trailer
tongue styles. In addition we keep an inventory of repair kits
so that in the long run, you can save money when parts require
replacement. Valley offers repair kits for Valley and Dutton-Lainson
brands. If you ever need a replacement part see page 42 of our
catalog or your Valley dealer. |
